Most of the stories that kids are familiar with from home and read-alouds at school are "problem/solution" stories.
The person in the story has a problem that they need to figure out and the book end with how they fixed their problem.
The class is very familiar with how these books sound, but it's much harder to sit down and write one!
We are focusing on Problem/Solution stories in April and May. A few students have already tried them, and their
work can be found below. We also wrote this type of story for our published class book for April. Please click
the "Published Class Books" link at the top of the page to read these. This page shows some of our own personal problem/solution
stories, and the "Fiction" link will take you to some fictional problem stories.

my mom. She clost it (a am not cod). Gud nit mom.
I was trying to sleep but the window was open. I got out of my bed to close the window, but it was hard.
I called my mom. She closed it. I am not cold. Good night mom.
